Technology driven textile industry

Ministry of textile, Government of India, for the first time, organized a brain storming session on 'Innovations in Textiles' on 30th April 2004 at India International Centre, New Delhi. Mr. S.B. Mohapatra, Secretary. MoT inaugurated the session and the Keynote address was given by Prof. V.S. Ramamurthy, Secretary DST. There were presentations by Mr. Subodh Kumar, Textile Commissioner, Head of Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi, Prof. V.K. Kothari, Directors of ATIRA, BTRA, NITRA, SITRA, SASMIRA, IJIRA and R&D/marketing personnel from Reliance Industries, Grasim and Sriram Fibres. The whole day session was attended by the top textile ministry functionaries, Secretary, Mr. S.B. Mohapatra, Mr. AtulChaturvedi, Joint Secretary, Mr. Subodh Kumar, Textile Commissioner and experts from defense research laboratories, IIT, NIFT and other institutes.
