The previous six installments in this series on Technical Textiles, have covered six important market segments, viz., Clothtech, Medtech, Mobiltech, Protech, Sporttech and Hometech. This installment is on Buildtech which includes all important innovations in membrane construction, lightweight and solid structures, earthworks, hydraulic engineering and road construction, e.g., new products for sound and heat insulation. This area is specially aimed at architects, construction engineers, building sponsors and investors. At the recently held Techtextil June 2005 Frankfurt, the world's most important International textile fair for Technical Textiles, Buildtech was in the limelight and formed a subject of special attention both at the Techtextil symposium and at the Student Prize competition on the subject 'Textile Structures for New Buildings', held parallel to this fair. Among the 12 market segments, Buildtech is projected to have the second largest growth during the period 2005-2010. In terms of consumption of non-woven fabrics, this segment holds the same position next only to Medtech.
