Processing of Automotive Textiles

Automotive textiles segment of technical textiles sector is a thrust area and fast growing. Besides comfort and aesthetic look, they reduce the weight of the car to some extent thereby enhancing fuel economy and efficiency. By and large Polyester is used and consumers expect that the interior textile components should last the life of the vehicle without noticeable colour fading. Light fast disperse dyes along with compatible UV absorbers meet the stringent criteria of the car manufacturers who test for all the parameters. Alkaline dyeing method is developed to provide trouble free processing and dyed fabric is treated with effect finish chemicals to impart performance properties like antistatic, water and oil repellence, flame retardency and anti-pilling abrasion resistance required by the end users.
