Part-1 of Garment Dyeing Machines, under the caption "Garment Processing Machines", published in the September'12 Supplement issue of Colourage, introduced this subject and its current importance. We had covered the status of this subject in 2006-2007 in a series of 7 articles in Colourage. Since then, during the past 5 years, the share of garments in India's Textile Exports, has grown to 39.6% to occupy the top position followed by Cotton Textiles (32.5%) and Man-Made Textiles (18.0%). Towards enhancing exports, our Government has taken up several Export Promotion Activities under Export Promotion Councils such as creation of Apparel Training & Design Centers with the purpose of upgrading technical skills such as "Production Supervision and Quality Control Techniques to the Readymade Garment Industry so that quality garments are manufactured for the global market". India plans to achieve a garment export target of US$ 65-billion by 2017, end of 12th 5-year plan from US$ 55-billion projected in the earlier just completing 5-year plan.
