Restorable: A complete car requiring some body work and mechanical work, but not a "basket case" or a total rustout. Good: A clean original or older restoration, completely drivable and serviceable, but not a show winner: capable of scoring 70-85 points in its present state. Excellent: A fine original or restored car capable of at least 85 out of 100 points in typical show judging and requiring no significant work, though possibly deficient in minor details. Cars in poorer condition will bring drastically reduced prices. Exceptionally fine "100 point" examples command a premium on the highest values stated. Thirties Plymouths have been heavily used for street rods. Of 17 surveyed, 11 were modified with big engines, lowered chassis, fiberglass fenders-you know the drill. They tend to command high prices-like $139,000 for a five-window coupe with blown Hemi V-8 in show condition. The best original on offer right now is possibly the best '34 PE DeLuxe in the country-a sharp red-and-black job with a claimed 9000 original miles, for which a dealer is asking $50,000. Another convertible, a '33 PD DeLuxe-older restoration with minor paint flaws but otherwise highly show-worthy-is at $43,000 (the owner will talk). A 1934 PE rumble-seat coupe has eluded the rodders and looks like a show winner; it is advertised at $42,000. Original four-door sedans are running $22,900 to $26,995.
