There is little doubt that the annual Carrera Panamericana run through Mexico was one of the most important and best remembered motorsports events of the early Fifties. To model manufacturers and collectors, it has been equally important. A remarkable number of models of the cars that competed in the race have been released. Sticking to just those cars that ran in the final race in 1954, we've found that there are a great number of them. Better yet, many are still available. Unfortunately for fans of the U.S. cars entered in this race, choices are quite limited. Perhaps the most famous of them, Ray Crawford's class-winning Lincoln Capri, was depicted but once. Italy's BBR released a 1/43-scale resin built-up of it (SM17R) in the firm's Styling Models range.
