Your article on the 1975-80 Ford Granada (CA, February 2012), particularly the period Ford advertisement reproduced on page 93, reminded me of an amusing incident from a number of years ago. I spent the Christmas of 1978 with family in Irvine, California. While there, I made a side trip down I-5 to visit a college friend near San Diego. This was about the time Ford was touting the alleged similarity between the Granada and a Mercedes in its advertising.
