"Look at that tortured sheetmetal," said the late AMC styling chief and master of svelte curves Dick Teague, pointing at the decklid of this writer's press-pool Granada in 1975. Tortured or not, the Granada did well and met the market needs of the time. The most desirable Granadas, which came only in pillared coupe and sedan form, are the upper-rank Ghias from the first two model years, especially the better-looking coupe. Ford brought out a new Granada Ghia in 1979, but it and the 1980 model sell for less than the earlier models. Not everybody agrees with our price scale: There's a non-Ghia '78 sedan for sale with air and manual transmission by a dealer for $12,000. Granada, not many collectors fall under your spell, and ads are few. Avoid the 1979-80 six-cylinder models, which have no prospects as collectibles.
