Whether you're selling linens or cars, spring has always been seen as a good time to get customers interested in buying something new. In February and March 1971, Ford dealers across the U.S. held what the company called a "White Sale" to help boost springtime sales figures. Ford offered a choice of two specially equipped two-door hardtops during this promotion, a Galaxie 500 and a Torino 500, and though it was called a White Sale, neither car came painted in that color. Instead, Ford offered them in Light Yellow Gold or Bright Blue Metallic. According to Ford, these colors were available on the highlight cars only during this promotion.
