Fairbanks, Alaska, may be "way up North" but the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum (FAAM) houses enough of America's finest cars from the veteran-, brass-, nickel-, and classic-car eras to make the journey worthwhile. Indeed, 20,000 people tour this cavernous 30,000-square-foot repository annually. FAAM's vehicles-most of which are immaculately restored, and painted and polished to a dazzling finish-are fully operational. "It's one of the best early collections in the United States," says Willy Vinton, the museum's affable manager. "And being a living museum where we drive all the cars makes it unique."
