1948-53 Dodge Light-Duty Trucks: Comfortable and Capable

Government control of industrial policy in the wartime Forties made new cars and trucks rare sights on America's streets. Certain critical industries were given priority for the purchase of new vehicles, but the likeliest way for the average citizen to get his hands on a new Dodge truck in, say, 1944, was to join the army Dodge built almost 340,000 military trucks in a variety of configurations during World War Ⅱ, when it wasn't making aircraft engines or tank parts. These 1/2and 3/4-ton-rated four-wheel-drive trucks with powertrains and cab designs picked up from prewar civilian models included weapons carriers, ambulances, and command cars, and they were found in every theater of battle.
