摘要

The knitting boom has had many a needlework shop shoving aside aida cloth and floss to make room for yarn and needles. But don't give up all the shelf space yet. While the category has yet to grab the media attention of its close-knit cousins, cross stitch, crewel and other forms of embroidery have been steadily building new fans - and new outlets. "I think there's a resurgence coming," says designer Kristin Nicholas, author of Kids' Embroidery (Stewart, Tabori & Chang). And why not? As Nicholas points out, "Embroidery is one of the easiest crafts to get into. A needle and some floss are all you need, stitches are easy to learn and there aren't many rules to follow."
