Removal of non-cancerous testicle not negligent: Healey v Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (Brighton County Court, 6/3/07 – Judge Simpkiss)

Mr Healey claimed that the Trust negligently failed to investigate whether he had cancer in the right testicle and that its removal was unnecessary. He also alleged psychological problems and various financial losses as a consequence. nOn 18 April 2002, the Claimant (who was aged 28 years at the time) attended the Accident and Emergency department of Crawley Hospital with pain in his testicle. It was noted to be swollen and felt hard. He was transferred to the East Surrey Hospital at Redhill for further investigation, where he was seen by Mr Eykyn, an SHO in the urology department.
