1. Immunological fecal occult blood (IFOB) testing has established itself as a new tool for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening.rn2. The simpler, cheaper and more convenient newer office based immunochemical strip test have been validated for CRC screening in population with above average risk for CR neoplasia (Hoepffner N, Shastri YM- Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2006;23(l): 145-54; Shastri YM- Gastroenterology 2007 Apr; 132(4):(Suppll)A-317).rn3. This new office based IFOBT has not yet been evaluated as a CRC screening marker in average risk general population.rn4. AIM:rnTo compare the performance characteristics of Guaiac-based FOBT with an office-based IFOBT as a screening biomarker for CRC in average-risk population.
