Prognostic value of plasma von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease (ADAMTS13) antigen levels in patients with coronary artery disease

Von Willebrand factor (VWF), a large multidomain, multi-meric plasma glycoprotein, plays an important role in primary haemostasis as it is involved in the initial adhesion of blood platelets at sites of vascular injury. VWF is tailored by the 13th member of a disintegrinlike and metalloprotease with throm-bospondin type 1 motifs (ADAMTS13; von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease) from a giant multimeric glycoprotein to different-sized multimers.
