Diesel powered vehicles are becoming more popular in the United States (U.S.). The requirement that they meet strict Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 2 emission standards has led to the development of emission control systems (ECS). Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems with urea injection and nitrogen oxide (NO_x) adsorber catalyst (NAC) systems are the leading technologies to reduce NO_x emissions from diesel engines to Tier 2 limits.
