Coca-Cola, the giant soda bottling company, celebrated Earth Day in 2012 with the unveiling of five hydrogen fuel cell servers at its beverage production facility in American Canyon, California. The company is a foundation partner with Bloom Energy, a California based firm that is pioneering fuel cells that can generate electricity from a variety of energy sources, including natural gas. The core technology used in the American Canyon project is the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), which was originally developed for the space agency NASA.
