Volkswagen (VW) has redesigned its iconic Beetle compact passenger sedan as a concept battery-powered electric vehicle called the E-Bugster unveiled by the German automaker at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) held in Detroit, Michigan, in January.The "E" stands for electric, "Bug" is the nickname for the Beetle in the United States, and "ster" is short for speedster, which typically describes an open top, two-seat sports car.VW calls the electric drive unit Blue-emotion, and promises to install it in future products such as the Goff.
