SANDIA CONVERTS NATURAL GAS TO LIQUID TRANSPORTATION FUELS

Researchers at Sandia National Laboratories, a United States (U.S.) Department of Energy (DOE) laboratory based in Livermore, California, will use its longstanding expertise in protein expression, enzyme engineering and high throughput assays as part of a multiproject, $34 million effort by the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). The project aims to develop advanced biocatalyst technologies that can convert natural gas to liquid fuels similar to gasoline for use in transportation.
