EUROPEAN AUTO INDUSTRY SETS OUT POST 2021 CO_2 TARGETS FOR CARS

The European Union (EU) automobile industry has delivered significant reductions in carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions from new passenger cars and vans in recent years, in line with the objectives of the EU 2030 Climate and Energy Framework. The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), which represents the 15 largest European based vehicle manufacturers from its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, laid out the industry’s preferred pathway to future CO_2 reductions for motor vehicles at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, prior to the European Commission’s ruling on the subject.
