In the paper 'Measurement ofclay surface areas by polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) sorption and its use for quantifying illite and smectite abundance' from Clays and Clay Minerals, vol. 52, 2004, 589-602, equation 3 should read:SA~*_（sample[m2/g]）=masss of PVP uptake[g/g]/0.99[mg/m~2](3) with the units of the denominator on the right side reading mg/m2 rather than g/m2 as in the original text.
