ロベール(Louis-Nicolas Robert)はフランス人であり,その2分の1模型が東京都北区王子の「紙の博物館」に展示されている(写真1,「紙の博物館」提供).%This is the 18th in a series of papers dealing with the improvement of the global environment. In this paper I report the exploitation of forestation in France. France is one of the member states that founded the EU and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Paper and paperboard production in 2010 in France is ranked 13th with 8.83 million tonnes after Italy with 9.146 million. Louis-Nicolas Robert of Essonnes, who is respected as the father of the modern paper manufacturing method, invented the first continuous paper machine in 1798. Its 1/2 scale model is now a collection of the Paper Museum in Oji, Kita-ku, Tokyo. Figure 1 is shown in this paper with prior approval from the Paper Museum. Although it is a model, it includes all equipment such as the headbox, slice, endless wire cloth, table roll, dandy roll, press roll and couch roll. In 1884 the brothers Sealy and Henry Fourdrinier, stationers of London, bought the patent from Robert and commercialized it. The museum is located in the Asukayama Park before the south exit of Oji Station, the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line. It is one of the world's largest four-storied museums dedicated to paper, where various collections collected from all ages and countries are exhibited with detailed explanations. This museum where I went after a long interval was newly built and its collections have greatly increased. I recommend you to visit there since a former paper company employee will show you around the museum.
