With a fleet of around 6,000 vehicles, Veolia is the largest operator of refuse and cleaning vehicles in the country. Gary Clark, Veolia UK and Ireland's director of fleet, explains that local authority contracts make up the vast majority of the company's fleet operation. 'I would estimate local authority contracts account for around 70 per cent of our vehicles,' he said. The rest is accounted for by commercial and water customers, and those in the industrial and hazardous waste sectors.'
