Post-Brexit impact on waste law and regulations

The government has produced legislation to replace EU rules after Brexit. As such, regardless of the outcome, there will be no/minimal change in the following areas: 1. The UK will remain a party to the Basel Convention and a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) 2. The goal to increase household waste recycling to 50 per cent by 2020 3. Existing arrangements around waste batteries and accumulators; end of waste criteria; packaging waste; waste electrical and electronic equipment; packaging (essential requirements), among others 4. Shipping waste for recycling under Green Control procedures 5. All UK consents for shipments of notifiable waste that go beyond 29 March 2019 will be rolled over.
