Scottish recycling initiative shows first year promise

Remade Scotland, the major initiative to stimulate, develop and strengthen markets for recyclate materials throughout Scotland, is reflecting on its first year of operation with a degree of satisfaction. Launched in August 1999, the £l.lm public-private partnership has already developed strategies for priority materials such as glass, organic waste and sand. Since then, Remade has identified high value end uses for more than 20,000 tonnes of glass alone.
