Bulky Bob's started life with the objective of obtaining the contract to collect bulky household items for Liverpool City Council. Having convinced the various parties involved that they could deliver the service, they got the contract in 1999/2000 and started working in June 2000. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength, numbers of collections made have increased year on year, and customer satisfaction remains high. Part of the philosophy includes aspects perhaps not normally seen in contracts for waste collection and disposal. Two of these are: 1. Providing training for the long-term unemployed 2. Ensuring that good furniture collected is not landfilled but reaches people in need.
