Litter Still Bugs Britain

The results of a new survey have revealed that not only does chewing gum continue to litter our streets more than any other litter, but instances have increased five-fold since 2004. This follows the 2008 INCPEN and Keep Britain Tidy survey results, when compared with the previous litter survey in 2004. The results also reveal that the number of cigarette ends counted on our streets during the survey has doubled, to more than 44 000, but reduced as a percentage of waste, making up a fifth of littering actions compared to a third in 2004.
