Everyone knows biomass is the new buzzword on the recycling scene. Since the first biomass plants opened in the UK a few years ago, the energy market has been slowly transforming to a point where we, like our European neighbours, recognise that wood can be used to provide heat and power in varying forms.rnBiomass can be virgin or waste wood material and there are several examples where both are being implemented successfully here and abroad. Virgin materials are specifically grown for the job and can be used alone or mixed with recovered waste wood to generate energy. But it is the waste wood market where biomass is having the biggest impact, both on the market itself and on the wood reprocessors involved in it.
