The world of motor manufacturing is fast-paced - a 1000bhp industry - and the UK automotive sector continues to prove its value to the economy. In 2012, the sector's turnover increased to £59bn (up more than £lbn since 2011) and manufacturing output reached its highest volumes since the economic downturn. Specifically, the new car market in the UK bucked the trend in wider Europe, rising 5.3 percent, according to The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited's 2013 Automotive Sustainability Report. However, there is a side of the automotive sector that isn't perhaps as shiny and new as a desirable '64 registration... the recycling element associated to the maintenance and repair of automotives.
