REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE... REPLACE?

In 1989, some fairly clever people designed the first proposals to introduce a three-tiered waste-management strategy that would be simple to follow, easy to implement and, most importantly, pave the way for a system that would drive - and build - a better environment for us all to live in. And so the waste hierarchy was born. The mantra of'reduce, reuse, recycle' was unanimously adopted, and it's easy to see why, because it makes sense. Reduce your usage, then reuse-as much as you can, and recycle what's left.
