Prestressing of bolts in steel construction

摘要

The paper discusses several topics related to preloading of bolted joints in steel construction. Different applications and related aspects are covered and discussed, for example bolt locking via preloading or the stiffness of the joint. This is preceded by a brief introduction of the mechanical effect of preload in a joint as well as a presentation of the different tightening procedures.
