Prof kobus van wyk of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), who passed away earlier this year, will be remembered with much fondness by all who knew him, and who had been inspired by his kind and patient leadership. The respectful manner in which he treated students and colleagues alike, touched and changed many lives. At the time of his passing he was Professor in the Department of Building and Human Settlement Development within the Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology. Through his hard work the degree Bachelor of Human Settlement Development (BHSD) was implemented in 2013, and NMMU is the first academic institution to offer the degree from 2014.
