Nearly one year after the collapse of the bridge in Minneapolis that carried Interstate 35W over the Mississippi River, the House in late July passed a revised version of legislation introduced last fall by Representative Jim Oberstar (D-Minnesota) to increase federal funding for bridge safety and inspection efforts, asce and other supporters of the legislation remain hopeful that the Senate will take up the legislation quickly upon its return this month.
