A 24 acre (9.7 ha) industrial site in Providence, Rhode Island, that once housed a 19th-century locomotive factory as well as several 20th-century manufacturing operations is on track to become a mixed-use brownfield redevelopment project that could feature up to 300,000 sq ft (28,000 m~2) of retail space, as much as 323,000 sq ft (30,000 m~2) of commercial space, more than 300 residential units for people with a range of incomes, and up to 40,000 sq ft (3,700 m~2) of public parks that will include walkways along both the north and south banks of the Woonasquatucket River.
