NASA Looks to Roller Coasters in Devising Launch Pad Evacuation System

As part of its plans to return astronauts to the moon, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (nasa) must attempt to account for every contingency, including an emergency requiring astronauts and other personnel to quickly evacuate the launch pad. If such a situation should arise, nasa intends to whisk its personnel to safety by means of a series of specially designed cars on a track resembling a giant roller coaster.
