Under the fast-track design/build method of project delivery, construction may start on those portions of the work for which the design is complete while other portions are still being designed. For owners, the advantages of a fast-track approach can include less time for project completion, potentially lower construction costs, and a single point of responsibility. Fast-track projects can hit snags along the way, however, if the requisite project approvals prove burdensome or time consuming, the flow of information between the parties is less than optimal, or the project management lacks experience or manpower.
