The New Louisville Arena, which will be the home of the University of Louisville men's and women's basketball teams, will truly have a multiplicity of purposes. While the arena is designed to rival professional basketball venues, it will be able to host such sports as arena football, boxing, and hockey, and it will also be able to provide the setting for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships in wrestling, volleyball, and swimming. Furthermore, the arena is fully equipped to host concerts, ice shows, and circuses. Construction of the arena, which is located adjacent to a riverfront highway between 2nd Street and 3rd Street in Louisville, Kentucky, is currently under way.
