If writing about music is like dancing about architecture, as a famous quip has it, what is writing about architecture? If that writing conies from Ada Louis Huxtable, it might fairly be said to dance. On Architecture collects Huxtable's writings on this subject from 1963 to her present work as the architecture critic for the Wall Street Journal. It says something about her output that a nearly 500-page book is not a complete collection but merely a selection of her best work. Considered the founder of architectural criticism in the United States, she was awarded the first Pulitzer Prize for Criticism and has authored many books.
