Criteria for Classifying World's Tall Buildings Adjusted

The council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has adjusted its criteria for tall buildings in response to recent developments in building design. Based in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, the council is the body that determines which building qualifies to be called the world's tallest. One of the new criteria measures height from the "lowest significant open-air pedestrian entrance," rather than from the sidewalk outside the main entrance, as had been the case.
