A Millennium of Climate Change Likely, Study Shows

A new study shows that rising levels of car-bon dioxide (CO_2) in the atmosphere will affect the climate for at least another 1,000 years. In the first full climate model to make predictions so far into the future, researchers at Canada's University of Victoria and University of Calgary showed that changes in the climate will cause the ice sheet in West Antarctica to collapse by the year 3000 and sea levels to rise by 13 ft. The scientists studied the length of time it would take to reverse climate change trends if the world stopped using fossil fuels and introducing CO_2 into the atmosphere as of 2010 and as of 2100.
