Mixed-Use Shanghai Project Features Calligraphy-Inspired Design

A Mixed-Use Development in Shanghai, China, designed by London-based Zaha Hadid Architects, which is headed by the Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate Zaha Hadid, features a slender, curving form in plan that was inspired by Chinese calligraphy. The 86,000 m2 Hongqiao SOHO project will be constructed in the Linkong Economic Park region, near Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The office and retail complex will be composed of four curvilinear sections, each 11 levels tall and roughly 25 m wide and ranging in length from approximately 150 to 300 m, explains Manuela Gatto, an associate and project director of Zaha.
