Monument Honors World's Tallest Building

Amonument has been erected to recognize the international collaboration involved in the construction of the 828 m tall Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. The monument, itself 18 m tall, is located in downtown Dubayy (Dubai), in the United Arab Emirates, and is aligned visually with the building it honors. Unveiled by Emaar Properties, the monument is similar in design to the Burj Khalifa, the architecture of which was inspired by a desert flower of the genus Hymenocallis. Engineers, designers, architects, and skilled workers from more than 100 countries contributed to the construction of the Burj Khalifa, which opened in December 2009.
