Apollo 11 Engines Found on Atlantic Floor

Aprivate exploration team funded by the founder of the online retailer Amazon, JeffBezos, has located the F-1 engines of the Saturn V rocket that launched the historic Apollo 11 mission more than 40 years ago. Now the team is planning to retrieve one or more of the engines from the bottom of the Atlantic. The team used deep-sea sonar to find the engines, which are 14,000 ft below the ocean's surface. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which still legally owns the engines, is reviewing the team's recovery proposal. Although the agency has reported that it may not be present during the recovery expedition, it is considering other ways of providing assistance and will have a say in the fate of the engines.
