Crossing the Canyon:The Navajo Bridge

Ever since the Grand Canyon became the centerpiece of one of America's first national parks, in 1919, it has drawn millions of visitors, necessitating the construction and expansion of highways through previously inaccessible regions. With few exceptions, however, these roads end at the edges of the canyon itself. One of the early exceptions was located in Marble Canyon, a section of the Colorado River just north of its confluence with the Little Colorado River, which marks the eastern end of the Grand Canyon proper.
