Recognizing the central role that the civil engineer- ing profession and ASCE play in designing and constructing infrastructure so as to conform to the principles of sustainable development, the Society, along with the other members of the Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council, signed an important agreement in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 20.
