Marine fenders - their role in the protection of marine structures and vessels

Berthing structures offer support to vessels that visit a port for the transshipment of cargo or passengers, to be resupplied with water and fuel, to do repair work while floating or to wait for a vacant place at a quay. Berthing structures therefore have three functions: 1.Providing a ship with a point of support and eventually the possibility of being tied to the structure. 2.Ensuring the connection between the ship and the land. 3.Retaining the soils at the edge of the water line in the case of quays.
