FAA Launches Drone Pilot Test Aimed at Upgrading Flight and Operations Rules

AS TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)-drones-are becoming increasingly useful for construction projects and infrastructure systems. And with growth in the UAS industry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is adjusting its regulations of how drones are permitted and used. In a May 9 press release, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation had selected 10 participants out of 149 applications for its Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program.
