AS schools close and families retreat to their homes, the worrying Coronavirus outbreak is top of the list across the news channels, social media, the family dinner table discussions, the phone calls to grandparents... The disruption to school as we know it will be unprecedented - exams are to be deferred or even cancelled, school lessons will be online... and careers advice? Well, that remains to be seen, but you can hazard a guess that the often poor careers advice relating to our industry could fade to nothing. We must not let our focus on education and skills fall by the wayside. Life goes on, and communicating the opportunities in our industry has never been so important. Here at Class of Your Own, we're taking huge steps to support our children and young people's education AND their interest. We have accelerated our use of social media platforms, Microsoft Teams channels, we're hosting online Teachmeets (with cheese and wine!) and helping new and existing Design Engineer Construct! (DEC) teachers by availing them of online experts throughout the week.
