THE UK's engineering industry faces a skills shortage of unprecedented levels, with a need to train 1.8 million engineers in the UK by 20251 while a total of 400,000 new construction workers will be required every year until 2021 to deliver the targets for housing and the National Infrastructure Delivery Plan. Given the scale of the skills challenge across the whole of UK pic, urgent answers are needed on access to labour, both traditional trade skills as well as the new skills required for our digital workflows, tools and processes.
