My Uncle Mike was an arcade junky back in the early 1980s. For several years, he'd held the high score on all the Galaga video game machines around the city. On a recent afternoon, after loosening his tongue with pizza and soda, I got him to tell me his secret. He used the now famous Galaga cheat that disables enemy fire for the duration of a game. His instructions went something like this: In the first stage of the game, let all the bees gather on the screen and then kill them all except the one on the bottom left. Dodge that bee as it attacks. When it eventually stops firing (after approximately 15 min.), kill it and none of the bees will fire for the rest of the game.
